Vacuum Truck Services designs and manufactures vacuum tanks in mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel. We have access to specialist manufacturers who are capable of constructing vacuum tanks from fibreglass.
Most VTS vacuum/pressure tanks are constructed to AS1210 class 3 and in some cases AS2809.4.
Mild Steel Vacuum/Pressure Tanks
Mild steel is the most common form of material used for vacuum tanks in the world today. VTS have a full range of diameters and length to suit all size requirements for all trucks and all sectors of the liquid waste industry. Tipping tanks and full opening rear doors are quite common.
Stainless Steel
VTS use 316 or 304 depending on the waste to be transported. Most people think stainless is the last word when is comes to corrosion resistance, that is not necessarily the case. You need to understand what waste you are transporting and be informed about its corrosive properties so as you choose the correct tank material.
Aluminium
Our aluminium designed vacuum tanks are ideal for grease trap waste, light weight and super strong they are deal for extra capacity whilst still being legal. An aluminium tank is typically 1/3 the weight of a mild steel tank. So if your steel tank weighs 3000kg the aluminium equivalent would be around 1000kgs that translates into 2000kg extra payload…
Aluminium is best suited really for septics and grease trap; there are many other wastes that could be harmful and greatly reduce the life expectancy of the tank.
Fibreglass
We don’t actually make the tanks ourselves but work with the manufacturer to ensure that the tank design is primarily what you require. There is no weight savings over mild steel but the corrosion properties are significantly improved.
